Life isn’t easy in Lima, the capital of Peru.

페루의 수도인 리마에서의 삶은 쉽지 않다.

The city is located in a desert, so it has little water.

그 도시는 사막에 위치해 있어서 물이 거의 없다.

Also, air pollution is increasing due to heavy traffic.

또한, 극심한 교통량으로 대기 오염이 증가하고 있다.

But a local university has created an unusual weapon to fight these problems: billboards.

하지만 한 지역 대학이 이러한 문제에 맞서기 위해 독특한 무기를 만들었는데, 바로 광고판이다.

The university created two types of billboards.

그 대학교는 두 가지 유형의 광고판을 제작했다.

The first type absorbs water from the air.

첫 번째 유형은 대기 중의 수분을 흡수한다.

The water is stored in a tank below the sign, and thirsty people can drink the water from a tap.

그 물은 표지판 아래에 있는 탱크에 저장되고, 목이 마른 사람들은 수도꼭지에서 물을 마실 수 있다.

The billboard collects more than 90 liters of drinking water every day.

이 광고판은 매일 90리터가 넘는 식수를 모은다.

The second type of billboard filters the air.

두 번째 유형의 광고판은 공기를 여과한다.

It takes in dirty air, removes pollution and bacteria, and then releases clean air into the atmosphere.

그것은 더러운 공기를 흡수해서 오염 물질과 박테리아를 제거하고, 그런 다음 대기 중으로 깨끗한 공기를 내보낸다.

Each billboard can keep the air clean for about five city blocks.

Of course, the billboards’ main function is to advertise the university.

In addition to providing clean air and water to people, the billboards also present a good image of the university.
