Fashion magazines are full of models, clothing, and hot trends.

You may think that these magazines are a modern creation.

But they actually started in seventeenth-century France.

The first fashion magazine, Le Mercure Galant, was created in 1672.

King Louis XIV wanted a magazine about the lifestyles of people in the upper class.
