This irrational behavior can be explained by the Concorde fallacy.

The Concorde fallacy is the idea that we often keep doing things simply because we don't want to waste our initial investment.

콩코드 오류는 단순히 초기 투자를 낭비하고 싶지 않아서 우리가 종종 계속해서 뭔가를 한다는 개념이다.

Its name comes from a supersonic jet made by France and Britain.

그 이름은 프랑스와 영국이 만든 초음속 제트기에서 비롯된 것이다.

Though it was fast and safe, the Concorde was costly to produce and there weren't many orders.

However, the French and British governments continued to pour money into the project.

They didn't want to give up because they felt they had already invested too much.
