Some poor neighborhoods can be dark and depressing.

일부 가난한 마을은 어둡고 우울할 수 있다.

But Las Palmitas, a neighborhood in Pachuca, Mexico, is as bright as a rainbow.

그러나 멕시코 Pachuca에 있는 마을인 Las Palmitas는 무지개만큼 밝다.

A community project led by a group of artists has totally changed its appearance.

한 집단의 예술가들이 이끄는 지역 사회 프로젝트가 마을의 외관을 완전히 바꿔놓았다.

Working together with residents of the hillside neighborhood, the artists painted about 200 homes bright colors.

예술가들은 산비탈 동네에 사는 주민들과 함께 작업하면서 약 200채의 집을 밝은색으로 칠했다.

When viewed from far away, the entire neighborhood looks like a large, colorful mural.

멀리서 봤을 때, 마을 전체는 커다란 형형색색의 벽화처럼 보인다.

The project, however, is about much more than artwork.

Its goal is to bring the community together and improve attitudes toward the neighborhood.

Along with the artists, the government and more than 450 local families participated in the project.

The results of the project have been satisfactory.

Before it began, people seldom spoke to their neighbors and avoided going out at night.

But during the project, people started interacting and chatting with each other.

As a result, Las Palmitas has become more beautiful to look at and a better place to live.
