According to a new study, cats might actually tend to prefer using their eyes instead of using their noses when it comes to finding food.

To test this idea, scientists put a group of six cats in a maze that had several “decision” points where the cats picked the path they wanted to take.

At each point, they selected one of two cards, each containing a different visual or odor cue.

To receive the food at the end of the maze, four out of the six cats chose to look at the image, while one cat preferred to use its nose.

The sixth one had no preference.

For instance, if a cat prefers scent, minor changes in the smell of the environment probably have a big impact on it and may hinder its ability to find food.
