Ryan was lying in bed, but he was wide awake.

Ryan은 침대에 누워 있었지만 완전히 깨어 있었다.

Although his parents weren’t home, he could hear something in the hallway, like the sound of someone slowly walking back and forth.

부모님이 집에 안 계셨지만, 그는 복도에서 누군가가 천천히 왔다 갔다 걸어 다니는 소리 같은 무언가를 들을 수 있었다.

After a few minutes, he cautiously got up, walked over to his bedroom door, and put his ear against it.

At first he heard nothing.

In the hallway, standing right in front of him, was the family dog.

Ryan had forgotten to put her out in the yard for the night.

He smiled, scooped her up into his arms, and carried her outside.
