One morning, Hughie dropped in to see a great friend of his, Alan Trevor.

어느 날 아침, Hughie는 그의 절친한 친구인 Alan Trevor를 보러 잠시 들렀다.

Trevor was a painter.

Trevor는 화가였다.

He was a strange, rough fellow with a bushy red beard.

그는 숱이 많은 붉은 수염을 가진 이상하고 행동이 거친 친구였다.

However, when he took up the brush, he was a real master, and his pictures were eagerly sought after.

하지만 그가 붓을 들면 그는 정말 대가가 되었고, 그의 그림들은 몹시 인기가 있었다.

When Hughie came into the studio, he found Trevor putting the finishing touches on a wonderful life-size picture of a beggar.

Hughie가 작업실에 들어왔을 때, 그는 Trevor가 멋진 실물 크기의 거지 그림을 마무리하고 있는 것을 발견했다.

The beggar was standing on a raised platform in a corner of the studio.

그 거지는 작업실 구석에 있는 높은 단상에 서 있었다.

He was a wrinkly old man with a pitiful expression.

그는 비참한 표정을 한 주름이 많은 노인이었다.

He wore a ragged brown cape, and he leaned on a rough stick with one hand while holding out his hat for donations with the other.

그는 누더기가 된 갈색 망토를 두르고 한쪽 손으로는 표면이 거친 지팡이를 잡고 기대어 있는 한편, 다른 손으로는 기부금을 위해 그의 모자를 내밀고 있었다.

"What an amazing model!" said Hughie, as he shook hands with his friend.

Hughie는 그의 친구와 악수하면서 "정말 멋진 모델인데!"라고 말했다.

"How miserable he looks!

"그는 정말 불쌍해 보여!"

How much does the model get for posing?"

"이 모델은 자세를 취하고 얼마를 받나?"

"A penny an hour."

"한 시간에 1페니를 받네."

"And how much do you get for your painting, Alan?"

"그럼, Alan 자네는 그림값으로 얼마를 받나?"

"Oh, I get two thousand pounds for this!"

"아, 나는 2천 파운드를 받는다네!"

"Well, I think the model should have a share," cried Hughie, laughing.

"그렇다면 나는 모델도 일부 나눠 가져야 한다고 생각하는데," Hughie가 웃으며 큰 소리로 말했다.

"He is working just as hard as you!"

"그도 자네만큼 열심히 일하고 있지 않은가!"
