Speaking of my young neighbor, she has been here for more than two years now.

제 젊은 이웃에 대해 이야기하자면, 그녀는 이제 여기서 2년 넘게 지내왔어요.

Last year, she went through a difficult time of grief after she lost her father, so I did what came naturally.

그녀는 작년에 아버지를 여의고 나서 힘든 슬픔의 시간을 겪었고, 저는 자연스럽게 하게 되는 일을 했어요.

I stayed with her, held her hands when she cried, and listened to what she said.

저는 그녀와 함께 있어 주었고, 그녀가 울 때 손을 잡아주었고, 그녀가 말하는 것을 들어주었죠.

She later told me that I was a great comfort during that difficult time, which made me feel very good.

나중에 그녀는 그 힘든 시기에 제가 큰 위로가 되었다고 말해주었는데, 그 사실이 저를 매우 기분 좋게 해주었어요.

It always feels nice to be reminded that I’m still capable of doing things for others.

제가 아직 다른 사람을 위해 무언가 할 수 있다는 것이 생각날 땐 항상 기분이 좋아요.

I am nearly 100 years old, and I have bad knees.

저는 거의 100살이고, 무릎이 좋지 않아요.

I understand that my knees aren’t going to get any better.

저의 무릎이 더는 좋아지지 않을 거라는 것을 잘 알죠.

There is nothing much the doctors can do about the pain.

이 통증에 관해서 의사가 해줄 수 있는 것이 별로 없어요.

But having young, vibrant people around helps me forget about the pain and enjoy my life!

하지만 젊고 활기찬 사람들을 곁에 두는 것은 이 통증을 잊고 제 삶을 즐길 수 있게 도와준답니다!
