If you ever get a chance to travel through the mountains of northern Turkiye, you may hear a whistled melody echoing through the peaks.

At first, it may seem like the song of a bird sitting in the tree above.

처음에는 나무 위에 앉아 있는 새의 지저귐처럼 들릴 수 있다.

However, if you listen more closely, you will hear a response to the melody and realize that someone is using it to communicate.

The amazing melody you hear is the bird language of Kuskoy.

당신이 듣는 놀라운 멜로디는 쿠스코이의 새 언어(버드 랭귀지)이다.

Kuskoy, which means "bird village," is located in the Pontic Mountains of northern Turkiye.

'새 마을'이라는 뜻을 가진 쿠스코이는 북부 튀르키예의 폰투스산맥에 자리 잡고 있다.

What makes it different from other villages is the fact that over 80% of the people there can communicate by whistling!

이 마을이 다른 마을들과 다른 점은 80%가 넘는 마을 사람들이 휘파람을 불어서 의사소통할 수 있다는 사실이다!

They use "bird language," a special regional language that translates the Turkish language into a series of high-pitched whistles and melodies.

그들은 튀르키예 언어를 일련의 고음 휘파람과 멜로디로 변환한 특별한 지역 언어인 '버드 랭귀지(새 언어)'를 사용한다.

The combination of these two sounds makes the language sound like a bird's song.
