One big threat to the language is modern technology.

이 언어에 대한 한 가지 큰 위협은 현대 기술이다.

With the convenience of cell phones, many people no longer see a need for such a language and are not willing to learn it.

휴대전화의 편리함으로 많은 사람들은 더 이상 그러한 언어에 대한 필요성을 느끼지 않고 그것을 배우려고 하지 않는다.

After all, why would you whistle to your neighbor when you can just send them a quick text message?

어쨌든 이웃에게 그저 빠른 문자메시지를 보낼 수 있는데 굳이 왜 휘파람을 불겠는가?

To make matters worse, many of the younger people from Kuskoy are moving away from the area to seek employment in larger urban centers.

설상가상으로, 쿠스코이의 젊은 사람들 다수는 더 큰 도심으로 일자리를 찾아 떠나고 있다.

Consequently, most of the villagers who are able to use bird language are aging, and their number has continued to decrease.

결과적으로 버드 랭귀지를 사용할 수 있는 마을 사람 대부분은 나이가 들어가고 있고 그 숫자는 계속해서 줄어들어 왔다.

Thankfully, the people of Kuskoy are doing all they can to prevent this vital part of their culture from fading into history.

다행히도 쿠스코이 사람들은 그들 문화의 중요한 부분이 역사 속으로 사라지는 것을 막기 위해 그들이 할 수 있는 것은 모두 하고 있다.

Since 1997, the natives of the village have organized an annual culture and art festival to celebrate and promote their language.

1997년부터, 마을의 원주민들은 그들의 언어를 기념하고 홍보하기 위해 매년 문화 예술 축제를 조직해 왔다.

It is usually held over two days in the summer and features a bird language competition.

그 축제는 보통 여름에 이틀간 열리며, 버드 랭귀지 경연 대회가 특징이다.

The contestants in the competition are given instructions on what to whistle, and a panel of judges decides who whistled the best!

Local experts are doing their part to conserve the language as well.

지역 전문가들 또한 그 언어를 보존하기 위해 그들의 역할을 하고 있다.

In 2014, they started teaching classes on bird language in primary schools throughout the region.

Students start out by learning the technique of the language and the different sounds it requires.

학생들은 언어의 기법과 언어에 쓰이는 다양한 소리를 배우는 것에서 시작한다.

Once this is mastered, they can move on to learning how to actually communicate with it.
