There is a look of impatience / on the faces of the people in line.

조급함의 표정이 있다 / 줄 서 있는 사람들의 얼굴에

There is even hostility, / hidden by a thin layer of politeness.

적대감마저 있다, / 공손함의 얇은 막으로 가려진

Even that politeness / is stretched thin.

그 공손함조차도 / 얇게 늘어져 있다.

As I approach the back of the store / for water bottles, / I realize I am too late.

내가 상점 뒤쪽으로 가는 동안 / 물병을 찾기 위해, / 나는 너무 늦었다는 것을 깨닫는다.

The shelves are already empty.

I manage my way / to the side aisle, / trying my luck.

And then she gets a little bit red in the face, / and turns to leave / before it becomes a deep flush.

I look for Garrett, / whom I find in the frozen aisle.

By now other people have taken notice / and begin to empty the ice case.
