Hiking in a Lost City

잃어버린 도시에서의 하이킹

Last June, my family and I went on the most amazing hike.

지난 6월에 우리 가족과 나는 가장 멋진 하이킹을 갔어요.

It was in Machu Picchu, the lost city of Peru.

그것은 페루의 잃어버린 도시인 마추픽추에서였어요.

To get there, we took a train and then a bus.

Our guide met us at the gate and took us up many stairs.

At the top, we could see all of Machu Picchu.

It looked like a giant maze.

My family and I were impressed with the beautiful view in front of us.

We took many pictures of the city and the mountains.

Then our guide took us back down.

We explored the ruins and saw some cute llamas.

It was a long hike.

My legs were sore for days, but visiting Machu Picchu was so fun!

Many people say goldfish have short memories.

Scientists fed some goldfish on only one side of their tank.

Yellow fever is a serious disease.

In the 1800s, many patients died from yellow fever.

No one knew the cause.

One day, a doctor in Cuba found the answer.

His name was Carlos Juan Finlay.

He studied the disease for many years.

They can stay healthy, thanks to Finlay’s hard work.
