Most people have seen a piano before.

대부분의 사람들은 피아노를 본 적이 있어요.

But did you know there is another very similar instrument?

그런데 당신은 아주 비슷한 또 다른 악기가 있다는 것을 알고 있나요?

It's called a harpsichord.

그것은 하프시코드라고 불려요.

Pianos and harpsichords both have black and white keys.

피아노와 하프시코드 모두 검은색과 흰색 건반들이 있어요.

When you press these keys, sounds come out.

이 건반들을 누르면 소리가 나요.

But the sounds don't come out of the keys.

그런데 소리는 건반에서 나오지 않아요.

They actually come from strings inside the instruments.

그것들은 실제로 악기 내부의 줄에서 나와요.

In a piano, the strings are hit by small hammers.

피아노에서는 그 줄들이 작은 해머에 맞아서 소리가 나요.

However, in a harpsichord, the strings are plucked to make sounds.

그런데 하프시코드에서는 소리를 내기 위해 그 줄들이 튕겨져요.

There are some other differences too.

다른 차이점들도 또한 몇 가지 있어요.

Harpsichord keys are slimmer than piano keys.

하프시코드의 건반들이 피아노 건반들보다 더 가늘어요.

Also, the colors of the keys are reversed on a harpsichord and a piano.

또한 하프시코드와 피아노는 건반들의 색깔이 반대예요.

Most people these days play the piano.

요즘 대부분의 사람들은 피아노를 연주해요.

However, some musicians are learning to play the traditional harpsichord again.

그런데 어떤 음악가들은 전통적인 하프시코드를 다시 배우고 있어요.
