The Forest King had a problem.

숲의 왕에게 문제가 생겼어요.

His trees were dying because insects were eating them.

벌레들이 나무들을 갉아 먹어서 죽어 가고 있었어요.

He asked the Sky King for help.

그는 하늘의 왕에게 도움을 요청했어요.

The Sky King decided that one bird should leave the sky and live on the forest floor.

하늘의 왕은 새 한 마리가 하늘을 떠나 숲 바닥에서 살아야 한다고 결정했어요.

It would eat the insects and save the trees.

그 새는 벌레들을 먹고 나무를 구할 거예요.

But none of the birds wanted to leave the sky.

그런데 어떤 새도 하늘을 떠나려 하지 않았어요.

"It's too cold and dark in the forest," they complained.

"숲은 너무 춥고 어두워요," 그들이 불평했어요.

"If the trees die," said the Sky King,

"나무들이 죽으면," 하늘의 왕이 말했어요,

"the other animals won't have a place to live."

"다른 동물들이 살 곳이 없어질 거야."

Finally, the brave kiwi said, "I'll do it."

마침내 용감한 키위가 말했어요, "제가 하겠어요."

So the kiwi lost its wings and went to live on the forest floor.

그래서 키위는 날개를 잃고 숲 바닥으로 가서 살았어요.

"Thank you," said the Sky King.

"고마워," 하늘의 왕이 말했어요.

"You will be loved by everyone forever."

"너는 영원히 모든 이들에게 사랑 받을 거야."
