"Let's do an experiment," says Ms. Adams, our science teacher.

"실험을 해 봐요," 과학 선생님인 Adams 선생님이 말해요.

She asks Mindy and Robert to help her.

그녀는 Mindy와 Robert에게 도움을 요청해요.

She gives a ball of paper to Robert.

그녀는 Robert에게 종이 공을 줘요.

Then she gives a flat piece of paper to Mindy.

그다음 Mindy에게 납작한 종이를 줘요.

"Now drop them," she says.

"이제 떨어뜨려 봐요," 그녀가 말해요.

Mindy and Robert drop their pieces of paper at the same time.

Mindy와 Robert는 동시에 종이를 떨어뜨려요.

Robert's paper ball falls to the ground quickly.

Robert의 종이 공은 빠르게 땅에 떨어져요.

But Mindy's flat piece of paper falls slowly.

그런데 Mindy의 납작한 종이는 천천히 떨어져요.

Why does that happen?

왜 그럴까요?

Ms. Adams explains, "Mindy's paper is large and flat, so more air is under it.

Adams 선생님이 설명해요, "Mindy의 종이는 크고 납작해서 그 아래에 공기가 더 많이 있어요.

Because more air pushes up from under it, it falls more slowly."

더 많은 공기가 종이 아래에서 위로 밀어 올리기 때문에, 더 천천히 떨어져요."

Mindy says, "It's just like a parachute!"

Mindy가 말해요, "꼭 낙하산 같아요!"

"Right!" says Ms. Adams.

"맞아요!" Adams 선생님이 말해요.
