A scientist walks into her office.

한 과학자가 자신의 연구실로 걸어 들어간다.

There are two jars on her desk.

그녀의 책상 위에는 두 개의 병이 있다.

When she looks inside them, she is very surprised.

그녀가 그 안을 들여다보았을 때, 그녀는 매우 놀랐다.

What happened?

One day, she cooked some rice and put it into two different jars.

어느 날, 그녀는 밥을 지어 두 개의 다른 병에 담았다.

She covered the jars and put them in the same room.

Every day, she said to one of the jars, “You’re nice,” and “You’re beautiful.”

매일, 그녀는 두 병 중 한 병에는 ‘너는 멋져.’ 그리고 ‘너는 아름다워.’라고 말했다.

And to the other jar she said, “You’re not smart,” and “You’re ugly.”

She did this for twenty days and began to notice a big difference between the jars.

The rice in the “positive words” jar/smelled nice, and it was still white.

However, the rice in the “negative words” jar/smelled bad and became dark in color.

Sometimes we use negative words instead of positive ones without thinking.

Nowadays we hear a lot about busking.

The word “busking” means to perform on the street, and “buskers” are street performers.

‘버스킹’이라는 말은 거리에서 공연하는 것을 의미하며, ‘버스커’는 거리 공연가이다.

Any type of public performance is “busking.”

어떤 종류의 대중 공연이든 ‘버스킹’이다.

It includes singing, dancing, acting, magic shows, circus acts, and so on.

그것은 노래, 춤, 연기, 마술 쇼, 서커스 공연 등을 포함한다.

Busking has a long history around the world.

버스킹은 전 세계적으로 긴 역사를 가지고 있다.

In most cultures, there were public performances on the street even in ancient times.

For example, gypsies traveled from place to place around Europe and performed, usually in markets and at festivals.

People gave them money, food, drinks, and other gifts.
