Oftentimes, cloudy hot water is due to air in the water.

Compared to warm water, cold water has the ability to hold more dissolved air.

When cold water is heated up by a water heater, it can no longer trap as much dissolved air.

Because the air has nowhere to escape inside the pipes, this increases the pressure.
