정령이 그의 소원을 들어주었다.

As a cloud, he sent pouring rain.

구름으로서, 그는 쏟아지는 비를 내렸다.

This destroyed all the crops.

이것은 모든 작물을 파괴했다.

However, the mountains were able to withstand all his storms.

하지만, 산들은 그의 폭풍을 견뎌낼 수 있었다.

“I wish I were a mountain!” he howled.

”내가 산이면 좋겠어!” 그가 울부짖었다.

The spirit granted his wish once more.

정령은 다시 한번 그의 소원을 들어주었다.

Now, he was sure that he was the strongest of them all.

이제, 그는 자신이 그 모든 것 중 가장 강하다고 확신했다.

But one day, a stonecutter started chipping away at him.

하지만 어느 날, 한 석공이 그를 조금씩 깎아내기 시작했다.

After a while, a rock slab broke off and fell to the ground.

잠시 후, 돌 조각이 분리되어 땅에 떨어졌다.

He couldn’t believe that a mere human was stronger than he was.

그는 한낱 인간이 그보다 강하다는 것을 믿을 수 없었다.

“I wish I were a man!” he shouted.

”내가 인간이었으면 좋겠어!” 그가 외쳤다.

The stonecutter returned to his old life and learned to be satisfied with it.

그 석공은 그의 이전 삶으로 돌아가 그에 만족하는 법을 배웠다.

Finally happy, he never wished to be anything else or heard from the mountain spirit again.

마침내 행복해져, 그는 다시는 다른 것이 되기를 소원하지도 않았고 산 정령의 소리를 들을 일도 없었다.
