Today is Oscar’s health checkup.

오늘은 Oscar의 건강 검진 날이에요.

Oscar is a very old dog.

Oscar는 아주 나이 많은 개예요.

Every year, I take Oscar to the vet downtown.

매년 나는 Oscar를 시내에 있는 수의사 선생님께 데려가요.

The vet is friendly.

그 수의사 선생님은 친절해요.

She knows Oscar very well.

그녀는 Oscar를 아주 잘 알아요.

First, she asks a few questions about Oscar’s health.

먼저, 그녀는 Oscar의 건강에 대해 몇 가지 질문을 해요.

Then she takes a look at his body.

그다음에 그녀는 그의 몸을 살펴봐요.

After a few tests, she says, “Oscar is fine.”

On the way home, I whisper to Oscar, “Please stay with me for a long, long time.

Hot deserts have lots of sand.

They get only a little bit of rain.

In the daytime, these places are very hot.

The temperature can go over 50˚C.

기온이 50도 이상으로 올라갈 수 있어요.

But at night, they can get very cold.

하지만 밤에는 그곳들이 아주 추워질 수 있어요.

The temperature may go down to below 0˚C.

기온이 0도 이하로 내려갈 수 있어요.

People wear special clothes to live in these deserts.

사람들은 이 사막에서 살기 위해 특별한 옷을 입어요.

They wear long robes, headgear, and veils.

그들은 긴 가운을 입고, 머리 덮개와 베일을 써요.

These clothes protect their skin from the hot sun.

이 옷들은 뜨거운 태양으로부터 그들의 피부를 보호해 줘요.

The veils protect their noses and mouths from the sand.

베일은 그들의 코와 입을 모래로부터 보호해 줘요.

The clothes also keep them warm at night.

이 옷들은 또한 그들을 밤에 따뜻하게 유지해 줘요.
