Day 25 Starting the Day

25일차 하루 시작하기

The station orbits Earth once every 90 minutes, and the sun rises and sets every 45 minutes.

이 우주정거장은 지구 주위를 90분마다 한 번씩 돌고 태양은 45분마다 뜨고 진다.

However, our schedules are set to Greenwich Mean Time on Earth.

그러나 우리의 일정은 지구의 그리니치 표준시에 맞춰져 있다.

My day starts around 6:00 a.m. in my personal space, which is about the size of a phone booth.

나의 하루는 내 개인 공간에서 오전 6시쯤 시작되는데, 그것은 공중전화 칸막이 공간만하다.

Still in my sleeping bag, I click through new emails and brush my teeth.

나는 여전히 침낭 속에 있는 상태로 이메일들을 클릭해서 훑어보고 양치를 한다.

I swallow the toothpaste with a sip of water from a bag with a straw.

There’s no good way to spit in space because everything floats.

Then, I look over the daily schedule sent by the flight control team on Earth.

After a meeting with the Earth team at 7:30, I start work.

Every minute of an astronaut’s day is planned by the Earth team.

My work comprises lots of scientific experiments and maintenance of the station.

나의 일은 많은 과학 실험과 우주정거장 유지관리 업무로 이루어진다.

My favorite experiment is growing basil from seeds as I film its growth every day.

내가 가장 좋아하는 실험은 매일 바질의 성장을 촬영하면서 씨앗으로부터 바질을 키우는 것이다.

Having green plants in space is a delight!

우주에 초록의 식물을 둔다는 건 기쁨이다!
