Studies like this are exceedingly rare.

이와 같은 연구는 대단히 드물다.

Almost all projects of this kind fall apart within a decade.

이런 종류의 거의 모든 프로젝트가 10년 이내에 무너진다.

This is because subjects drop out of the study; the research funding dries up; researchers get distracted or die.

이는 피실험자들이 연구에서 중도 하차하거나, 연구 자금이 바닥나거나, 연구자들이 (연구에) 집중을 못하게 되거나 사망하기 때문이다.

However, this study survived long enough to yield an unexpected result.

그러나 이 연구는 예상치 못한 결과를 산출할 만큼 충분히 길게 살아남았다.

Many would assume the wealthier group was happier. It was not so.

많은 사람들이 더 부유한 집단이 더 행복했을 것이라고 추정할 것이다. 그렇지 않았다.

The researchers found that wealth, fame, and hard work didn’t have much impact on happiness.

연구자들은 부, 명성, 그리고 열심히 노력하는 것이 행복에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다는 것을 발견했다.

Instead, it was having good relationships with friends or family that kept people happier and healthier.

대신에, 사람들을 더 행복하고 더 건강하게 유지시켜 준 것은 바로 친구나 가족과 좋은 관계를 가지는 것이었다.

What’s more, it is never too late to work on it.

게다가, 그것을 위해 노력하기에 결코 너무 늦은 때는 없다.
