In South Africa, thousands of people die from preventable diseases like cholera every year.

남아프리카에서는 수천 명의 사람들이 매년 콜레라와 같은 예방 가능한 질병으로 사망한다.

The most vulnerable group affected by these diseases is children.

이러한 질병에 영향을 받는 가장 취약한 집단은 어린이들이다.

The simple act of washing hands frequently with soap is the most effective way to prevent infections.

비누로 손을 자주 씻는 간단한 행동은 감염을 예방하는 가장 효과적인 방법이다.

However, providing children with soap and encouraging them to use it regularly presents a real challenge.

그러나, 어린이들에게 비누를 제공하고 규칙적으로 비누를 사용하도록 장려하는 것은 정말 어려운 일이다.

A nonprofit organization created Hope Soap, a see-through bar of soap with a small toy inside.

한 비영리 단체가 안에 작은 장난감이 들어 있는 속이 비치는 고체 비누인 희망 비누(Hope Soap)를 만들어 냈다.

The only way to get to the toy is to use the soap.

그 장난감을 얻는 유일한 방법은 비누를 사용하는 것이다.

Not only did free bars of Hope Soap reduce infections, but they also changed the personal cleanliness habits of children.
