What Hazards Do Migrating Birds Encounter?

Migratory birds are facing a growing threat from humans.

철새들은 인간으로 인해 점점 더 커지는 위협에 직면하고 있다.

Many species migrate at night and are attracted to the lights of tall buildings.

많은 종이 밤에 이주하며 높은 건물들의 불빛에 이끌린다.

As a result, millions die after colliding with such structures.

결과적으로, 수백만 마리가 그런 구조물들에 충돌한 후 죽는다.

Many are also killed by wind farms.

많은 새들이 또한 풍력 발전소로 인해 죽임을 당한다.

Especially problematic is the destruction of mudflats by humans.

특히 문제가 되는 것은 인간에 의한 갯벌 파괴이다.

Mudflats are important stop-off locations that provide food supplies critical to birds’ survival.

갯벌은 새들의 생존에 필수적인 먹이 공급원을 제공하는 중요한 기착지이다.

The largest tidal mudflats on the Earth are the Yellow Sea mudflats in Korea and China.

지구상에서 가장 큰 밀물과 썰물이 드나드는 갯벌은 한국과 중국에 있는 황해 갯벌이다.

However, these mudflats are fast disappearing as humans turn them into land.

그러나 이 갯벌들은 인간이 그것들을 육지로 바꾸면서 빠르게 사라지고 있다.

This has become one of the world’s greatest conservation concerns for migratory birds.

이것은 철새들에 관한 세계에서 가장 큰 보호 문제들 중 하나가 되어 왔다.
