Ask the right questions, rather than merely find answers.

단순히 답을 찾기보다는 올바른 질문을 하라.

Before the Internet, people with vast knowledge were considered to be the most talented.

인터넷 이전에는 방대한 지식을 가진 사람들이 가장 능력 있는 사람들로 여겨졌다.

Quiz shows with difficult questions, such as the name of the famous stone castle built by Cormac MacCarthy in 1446, used to be very popular.

1446년 Cormac MacCarthy가 지은 돌로 된 유명한 성의 이름과 같은 어려운 문제가 나오는 퀴즈쇼가 예전에는 매우 인기가 있었다.

However, things have changed, and now with the presence of AI, many people question why one would memorize such information.

그러나 상황이 바뀌었고 이제는 인공지능이 존재하기 때문에, 왜 그러한 정보를 외워야 하는지에 많은 사람들이 의문을 제기한다.

Unlike in the past, this is because you can quickly find answers on the Internet, and if you want, an AI assistant will even find an answer for you.

이는 과거와 달리, 인터넷에서 빠르게 답을 찾을 수 있고, 원한다면 인공지능 비서가 여러분을 위해 심지어 답을 찾아줄 것이기 때문이다.

In 2011, the 74-time winner of a popular American quiz show competed against a supercomputer.

2011년 인기 있는 미국의 퀴즈쇼에서 74번 우승한 사람이 슈퍼컴퓨터와 대결했다.

The fact that the computer won a resounding victory shows that humans cannot keep up with computers in finding factual information.

컴퓨터가 완승을 거두었다는 사실은 인간이 사실적 정보를 찾는 데 있어서 컴퓨터를 따라갈 수 없다는 것을 보여준다.

If that person were to compete with current AI, he would probably lose by a larger margin.

만약 그 사람이 현재의 인공지능과 대결한다면 아마도 더 큰 차이로 질 것이다.

We don’t need to memorize all the answers, and no matter how hard we try, we cannot rival AI in memorizing vast quantities of information.

우리는 모든 답을 외울 필요가 없으며, 우리가 아무리 열심히 노력한다 해도 방대한 양의 정보를 외우는 데 있어서 인공지능에 필적할 수 없다.

What we need to focus on is obtaining the “right” answers from AI, and the key is to ask the right questions to elicit the answer you want from AI.

우리가 주력해야 할 것은 인공지능으로부터 ‘올바른’ 답을 얻는 것이고, 그 핵심은 인공지능으로부터 원하는 답을 끌어내기 위해 올바른 질문을 하는 것이다.

That is not to say you don’t need to study.

이는 여러분이 공부할 필요가 없다는 말은 아니다.

To ask the right questions, you must understand the context in which you’re asking the question, and you also need background knowledge on the topic.

올바른 질문을 하기 위해, 여러분이 질문을 하고 있는 맥락을 이해해야 하며, 해당 주제에 대한 배경 지식도 필요하다.

When AI provides an answer, you must also be able to tell how accurate the answer is.

인공지능이 답을 제공할 때, 그 답이 얼마나 정확한지도 알 수 있어야 한다.

We are currently in an era where the ability to use information is more important than having all the details memorized.

우리는 현재 모든 세부사항을 외우는 것보다 정보를 활용하는 능력이 더 중요한 시대에 있다.

We must be able to do what AI is not good at rather than focusing on what AI does best.

우리는 인공지능이 가장 잘하는 것에 주력하기보다는 인공지능이 잘하지 못하는 것을 할 수 있어야 한다.
