Scents can have a powerful effect on our memory.

향기는 우리 기억에 강력한 영향을 미칠 수 있다.

For this reason, some companies use specific scents to stay in the minds of customers.

이런 이유로 몇몇 회사들은 고객의 마음속에 머물기 위해 특정한 향기를 사용한다.

Singapore Airlines is one example.

싱가포르 항공이 한 예이다.

They used six kinds of flowers that are native to Singapore to create a signature scent.

그들은 자신을 대표하는 향기를 만들기 위해 싱가포르가 원산지인 여섯 종류의 꽃을 사용했다.

The scent is used on flight attendant uniforms and in various places on the plane.

그 향기는 승무원 제복에 그리고 기내의 여러 장소에 사용된다.

This makes passengers think of the scent as part of the Singapore Airlines brand image.

Another example is Burger King.

It uses its vents to spread the smell of grilling burgers.

This makes people nearby feel hungry and think of the restaurant.

This experience is called pareidolia.

It causes people to see faces in everyday objects.

You can probably see a shocked face.

Why do we experience pareidolia?

One reason is because it helped us survive long ago.
