Many people like scented candles.

많은 사람들이 향초를 좋아한다.

They are very relaxing, and they create soft light and good smells.

그것은 마음을 느긋하게 해 준다 그리고 그것은 부드러운 빛과 좋은 향기를 낸다.

But few people know that they can be dangerous.

그러나 그것들이 위험할 수 있다는 것을 아는 사람은 거의 없다.

The perfumes used in these candles contain chemicals.

이러한 향초에 사용되는 향료에는 화학 물질들이 들어 있다.

Some of these chemicals react with gases in the air.

이 화학 물질들의 일부는 공기 중의 기체와 반응한다.

This makes the candles dangerous.

이것이 향초를 위험하게 만든다.

For example, a chemical called limonene smells like lemons.

예를 들어, 리모넨이라고 불리는 화학 물질은 레몬 같은 향기가 난다.

But when it mixes with other gases, it makes formaldehyde.

그러나 그것이 다른 기체들과 섞이면 그것은 포름알데히드를 만든다.

Formaldehyde causes cancer and can seriously harm your health.

To stay safe, never light scented candles when all the doors and windows are closed.
