One day, a writer was having lunch with three friends.

어느 날, 한 작가가 세 명의 친구들과 함께 점심을 먹고 있었다.

She gave them a riddle.

그녀는 그들에게 수수께끼를 냈다

She said, “What starts with T, ends with T, and is full of T?”

그녀는 말했다 “t로 시작하고 t로 끝나고 t로 가득한 것은 뭘까?”

“T-shirt!” one answered.

“티셔츠(T-shirt)!”라고 한 명이 답했다.

This was the wrong answer.

이것은 오답이었다.

A T-shirt isn’t full of T.

티셔츠는 t로 가득하지 않다.

No one seemed to know the correct answer.

아무도 정답을 모르는 것 같았다.

So the writer made a suggestion.

그래서 작가가 한 가지 제안을 했다.

She said, “If you find out the answer, I will pay for lunch.

그녀는 말했다 “만약 너희들이 답을 알아내면, 내가 점심을 살게.

If not, you have to buy lunch.”

그러지 못한다면 너희들이 점심을 사야 해."

Her friends agreed.

그녀의 친구들은 동의했다.

They began discussing possible answers.

그들은 가능한 답을 의논하기 시작했다.

After a while, they smiled and wrote something on a napkin.

잠시 후, 그들은 웃었다 그리고 냅킨에 무언가를 적었다.

It was the correct answer!

그것은 정답이었다!

The writer was surprised, but she kept her word.

작가는 놀랐다 하지만 그녀는 약속을 지켰다.
