One day at Pekin Middle School in Iowa, a shocking event happened.

어느 날 Iowa(아이오와)에 있는 Pekin(페킨) 중학교에서 충격적인 사건이 일어났다.

A student named Jackson shaved his principal’s head!

Jackson(잭슨)이라는 한 학생이 그의 교장 선생님의 머리카락을 밀어 버린 것이다!

Why did he do it?

그는 왜 그랬을까?

A few days before the event, he shaved his own head.

그 사건이 있기 며칠 전에, Jackson은 자신의 머리를 밀었다.

His grandfather had been suffering from cancer, and all of his hair had fallen out.

그의 할아버지는 암을 계속 앓아 왔었다, 그리고 그의 머리카락이 모두 빠져 버렸다.

So Jackson shaved his own head to cheer him up.

그래서 그에게 기운을 북돋아 드리기 위해 Jackson은 자신의 머리를 밀었다.

When he arrived at school with a shaved head, his classmates bullied him.

그가 삭발한 채로 학교에 도착했을 때, 반 친구들은 그를 괴롭혔다.

Jackson’s mom called the school and told Principal Hadley what had happened.

Jackson의 엄마는 학교에 전화했다 그리고 Hadley(하들리) 교장에게 무슨 일이 있었는지 이야기했다.

Principal Hadley was very upset that Jackson was teased for supporting his grandfather.

So he asked Jackson to shave his head!

Principal Hadley wanted to send a strong message to the students who teased Jackson.

Hadley 교장은 Jackson을 놀린 학생들에게 강한 메시지를 전달하고 싶었다.

He was hoping to show them the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.
