Once upon a time, / there were ten suns.

옛날 옛적에, / 열 개의 태양이 있었습니다.

They lived in a mulberry tree / in the East.

Their mother was / the sun goddess Xihe.

Every day, / only one of the suns / would travel across the sky / with its mother.

However, / one day, / the suns made a plan.

Before their mother came, / they all went up to the sky together.

Soon / the world became too bright and too hot.

The heat dried the land.

He sent Houyi, / the god of archery, / to frighten them.

But / Houyi started to shoot the suns down.
