Theater actors have an interesting job.

During a performance, actors become the characters they play.

A “curtain call” is a special tradition in the dramatic arts.

This tradition started about 200 years ago.

In the 1800s, theater became popular in Europe.

1800년대에 연극은 유럽에서 인기 있어졌다.

When a performance ended, the audience often wanted to see the actors one more time.

공연이 끝나면 관객들은 종종 배우들을 한 번 더 보길 원했다.

So they called for the actors to return.

This tradition continued and became the modern curtain call.

On the stage, the curtains close at the end of a performance.

A few moments later, they open once again, and the actors return to the stage.

Then the audience applauds to thank the cast and crew.
