The dragons became curious.

They flew closer and discovered that the people were praying for rain.
그들은 더 가까이 날아갔고 사람들이 비를 위해 기도하고 있다는 것을 알게 되었다.
For a long time, there had been no rain.
오랜 시간동안 비가 없었다.
The crops were dying, and people were starving to death.
농작물은 죽어가고 있었고, 사람들은 굶어 죽고 있었다.
The dragons felt great pity for them.
용들은 그들을 불쌍히 여겼다.
They immediately flew to the Jade Emperor, who ruled heaven and earth, and asked him for help, but he was too busy listening to his singing fairies.
그들은 즉시 하늘과 땅을 다스리는 옥황상제에게 날아가 도움을 요청했지만, 그는 그의 노래하는 요정들을 듣느라 바빴다.
He hastily agreed to make it rain soon and waved them out.

Days passed, but there was still no sign of rain. The dragons were disappointed.

They took turns scooping water from the sea into their mouths and spraying it into the air.

Soon the sky became very dark, and rain came pouring down.

The dragons watched happily as the people ran out of their houses and leapt for joy.
용들은 사람들이 집에서 뛰어나와 기쁨에 뛰는 것을 행복하게 바라보았다.
The Jade Emperor, however, was furious.
그러나 옥황상제는 분노했다.
He ordered the mountain god to place a mountain on each dragon as punishment.
그는 벌로 각 용 위에 산을 놓도록 산신에게 명령했다.
Although they were trapped, the dragons never stopped helping people.
용들은 비록 갇혔지만 사람들을 돕는 것을 멈추지 않았다.
They turned themselves into rivers.
그들은 자신들을 강들로 변하게 했다.
They were pleased to know that everyone would always have easy access to water.
그들은 모든 사람이 쉽게 물에 접근할 수 있게 되었다는 것을 알고 기뻐했다.
This is how the four great rivers of China were formed: the Heilong Jiang (Black Dragon River), the Huang He (Yellow River), the Chang Jiang (Long River), and the Zhu Jiang (Pearl River).
중국의 4대 강인 Heilong Jiang(흑룡강), Huang He(황하강), Chang Jiang(장강), 그리고 Zhu Jiang(주강)은 이렇게 형성되었다.
