King Midas was the ruler of Phrygia, an ancient country in Asia Minor.
Midas 왕은 소아시아의 고대 국가인 Phrygia의 통치자였다.
He was very rich and lived in a luxurious palace surrounded by rose gardens.

But despite his wealth, Midas was greedy.

One day, he found a satyr, a creature that is half man and half goat, sleeping in his garden.

Midas recognized him instantly.

On the eleventh night, Midas took Silenus back to Dionysus.

Dionysus was grateful to Midas for his kindness.

He promised to grant Midas a wish.

Eagerly, he began to touch everything around him.

After a while, Midas felt hungry. He sat down and picked up some grapes to eat.

They turned to gold as soon as he touched them.

Realizing he couldn’t eat or drink anything, Midas started to worry.

At that moment, his daughter appeared.

Without thinking, Midas welcomed and hugged her, turning her into a golden statue.

Horrified, Midas cried, “Oh no! What have I done!”

Midas prayed to Dionysus in grief, “Please lift this curse.”
Midas는 비탄에 빠져 Dionysus에게 기도했다. “제발 이 저주를 풀어주세요.”
Dionysus felt sorry for Midas and told him to go to the river Pactolus to wash his hands.
Dionysus는 Midas를 불쌍히 여기고 그에게 Pactolus강으로 가서 손을 씻으라고 말했다.
When he did this, Midas was relieved to see gold flowing away from his fingers.
그가 이렇게 했을 때, Midas는 금이 그의 손가락으로부터 흘러가는 것을 보며 안도했다.
