Gutemalan President Jimmy Morales announced the nation's plans to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
대사관을 예루살렘으로 옮기는 과테말라 대통령 지미 모랄레스는 이스라엘에 있는 대사관을 텔 아비브에서 예루살렘으로 옮기는 계획을 발표했다.
In his official Facebook account, Morales said he had spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and had instructed Gutemala’s foreign ministry to “initate the process to make it possible”.

Gutemala is the first country to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem since U.S president Donald Trump issued a statement on Dec. 6, announcing his decision to officially recognize Jerusalem as the cpital of Israel and move the U.S embassy to Jerusalem.
과테말라는 미국 대통령 도널드 트럼프가 12월 6일에 예루살렘을 이스라엘의 수도로 공식적으로 인정하고 미국의 대사관을 예루살렘으로 옮기겠다는 결정을 발표하며 성명서를 발표한 이래로 대사관을 텔 아비브로부터 예루살렘으로 옮기는 첫 번째 국가이다.
In response, the United Nations voted for a resolution to officially oppose Trump’s decision.
대응으로 유엔은 공식적으로 트럼프의 결정을 반대하는 결의안에 투표하였다.
Some 128 countries voted in favor of this redolution, while nine nations voted against the UN.
9개의 국가들은 유엔에 반대한 반면 128개국이 이 결의안에 찬성하였다.
These nations included Gutemala, the U.S, Israel, and six smaller nations.
이 나라들은 과테말라, 미국, 이스라엘 그리고 6개의 작은 국가들을 포함했다.
Israel praised Gutemala over its decision to move its embassy.
이스라엘은 대사관을 옮기겠다는 결정에 대해 과테말라를 칭찬했다.
“I told you recently that there will be other countries that would reconized Jerusalem and announce the transfer of their embassies to it, ”said Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Yuli Edelstein, Israel’s Speaker of Parliament, congratulated Morales on his decision to move Gutemala’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Edelstein said that the decision is proof that Israel and Gutemala are “true friends” and that he is confident that the ties between the two nations will “only grow stronger” and benefit both countries.
